Some random facts…
- I live in Australia, which places me at the other end of the world to most of the others out there whose blogs I have discovered
- I prefer winter to summer, which means I’m effectively in the wrong hemisphere
- I only “discovered” the world of fitness/food/health blogs in early 2009. It only took me a few months to decide I needed (ok, wanted) a blog of my own
- I am also a recent convert to running…I have exercised pretty constantly since my late teens, but only got into running in late 2008.
- I have lived in 3 countries and 11 houses in my lifetime
- When I started running ‘properly’ (by which I mean, more than 10 minutes at a time…I really was starting from scratch with this form of exercise!) I was forced to reconsider the way I eat and think about eating. I hit a point where I wasn’t able to improve my running speeds/distances/times until I changed my eating, and made sure I had enough energy to fuel the higher-intensity exercise. This process also made me realise how helpful it is to get energy from the right sources (i.e., not over-processed, artificially sweetened/flavoured, nutritionally hollow foods!).
- This has led to a renewed focus on health on my part – not just eating or exercise or weight alone. I am still very much learning with regard to this process, but I think I am slowly getting there.
- I like cloudy days, books, coffee shops, to-do-lists (and ticking things off to-do-lists), baking, studying, writing, my laptop, trees, water, friends, family, shopping and exercise, amongst other things.
- I dislike rudeness, feeling overwhelmed (I guess that applies to us all), staying up/out very late, forgetting things, not doing what I said I would, the heat, having nothing to wear (oh, the drama), my hair when it frizzes, a lot of the tv shows out there, and people who set out to hurt others.
- For a number of reasons, I would prefer my identity to not be easily identifiable online, so I’ll probably be a bit more cautious than average with providing potentially identifying details, including photos (with my face at any rate)
Hey you! I’m so pleased to see that you have a blog. I can’t wait to keep up with you and I’m so happy that you have moved into a healthier relationship with food & exercise. It’s been a long time coming hasn’t it? I bet you feel better for it….Good for you girlie!
